We affirm the following creed, taken from the early days of the church...
--The Nicene Creed--
We believe in one God, the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and of all things visible and invisible; And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only-begotten Son of God, begotten not made, being of one substance with the Father, by whom all things were made; who for us, and for our salvation, came down from heaven, and was incarnate by the Holy Spirit of the Virgin Mary, and was made man, and was crucified also for us under Pontius Pilate. He suffered and was buried, and the third day he rose again according to the Scriptures, and ascended into heaven, and sits on the right hand of the Father. And he will come again in glory to judge both the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end.
And we believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord and Giver of Life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son together is worshipped and glorified, who spoke by the prophets. And we believe in one holy universal and apostolic Church. We acknowledge one baptism for the remission of sins. And we look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen.
Unity, Liberty, and Love
In our core beliefs – we have unity. “There is one Body and one Spirit . . . there is one Lord, one faith, one baptism, and one God and Father of us all.” Ephesians 4:4-6 In our additional beliefs – we have liberty. “Accept Him whose faith is weak, without passing judgment on disputable matters. Who are you to judge someone else’s servant? To his own master he stands or falls. So then each of us will give an account of himself to God. So whatever you believe about these things, keep between yourself and God.” Romans 14:1, 4, 12, 22
In all our beliefs – we show love. “If I hold in my mind not only all human knowledge but also the very secrets of God, and if I have the faith that can move mountains – but have no love, I amount to nothing at all.” I Corinthians 13:2
Our Core Beliefs -- in more detail
On God
We believe in one God, creator and sustainer of all things, infinitely perfect, holy, and eternally co-existing in three persons–Father, Son, and Holy Spirit–who are omniscient, omnipotent, and omnipresent; and that these three are co-eternal and of equal dignity and power.
On the Authority of Scripture
We believe that the Bible, both Old and New Testaments, are God breathed. The original manuscripts are inspired, inerrant, and trustworthy Word of God. They reveal God’s will for the salvation of human beings, and are the final authority for all matters. It is the complete revelation of His will for salvation and the only unfailing rule of faith and practice for life.
On God the Father
We believe in God the Father, who is an infinite, personal Spirit, perfect in holiness, wisdom, power, and love; He mercifully concerns Himself in the affairs of mankind; He hears and answers prayer; and saves all who come to Him through Jesus Christ.
On Jesus Christ
We believe that Jesus Christ is God. He is God's only begotten Son, conceived by the seed of the Holy Spirit, born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, and performed. He pre-existed with God in the form of God. He freely gave up His position, humbled Himself, and became incarnated as a man. We believe Jesus Christ is the only mediator between God and mankind.
On the Atonement
We believe the Lord Jesus Christ died for our sins and that all who put their faith and trust in Him alone for the forgiveness of sins are declared righteous because of His sacrificial death and are, therefore, in right relationship with God. We believe the substitutionary death of Jesus Christ for the atonement of our sins and His bodily resurrection provide the only ground for justification, forgiveness, and salvation for all who believe that He is the Son of God.
On Salvation
We believe that accepting and confessing Jesus Christ as the only begotten Son of God and asking Him to forgive our sins results in the regeneration of our lives. (Galatians 3:19; 1 John 3:9). This 'new birth' causes us to become new creations in God. This "born again" experience does not make our decisions and actions immediately perfect; it is the beginning of a new way of life that allows God, in His faithfulness, to conform us into His nature (Romans 5:10; Philippians 1:6).
On the Resurrection
We believe Jesus Christ resurrected from the dead, ascended into Heaven, and sits at the right hand of God the Father, forever making intercession for His people. His resurrection is the first-fruits promise of the resurrection into eternity for all who believe in Him. We believe in the bodily resurrection of everyone who has lived, the glorification of the redeemed into the likeness of Jesus Christ, to be eternally present with Him, and the everlasting punishment of those who have rejected God’s forgiveness in His Son.
On the Holy Spirit
We believe the Holy Spirit is God. He inhabits everyone who believes in Jesus Christ and is the agent of regeneration and sanctification for all Christians. He makes God’s presence real to us. He teaches, comforts, guides, convicts, and empowers believers to live lives that honor God.
On Communion (the Lord's Supper)
We believe the Communion is a holy ordinance that testifies of our union with Christ and the canceling of our sins through His crucifixion and death on a wooden cross. Partaking of the Lord's Supper in a corporate or church setting also testifies of our relationship with each other as the Body of Christ. The Lord’s Supper is a memorial service. The bread is symbolic of the body of Christ which is broken for us. The grape juice represents the blood of Christ, which was shed to cancel our sins, and set us free from the sin naure. The Lord’s Supper is observed as an act of worship and commitment the first Sunday of each month as part of the morning service.
On Water Baptism
We believe that water baptism should be by immersion soon after accepting Jesus sacrifice for our sin and His authority over our life. This ordinance is a public statement of faith that we believe in the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Baptism is an outward expression of an inward faith. Baptism in no way saves a person from their sins. It can be likened to a wedding band worn by a bride. The wedding ring is an outward expression; the band itself does not make her a married person. Scriptural baptism is a total immersion in water. Lowering into the water signifies identification with Christ’s death. Coming up out of the waters signifies identification with Christ’s resurrection. The church will receive for baptism any person who has received Jesus Christ as Savior by personal faith and who indicates a commitment to follow Christ as Lord.
On Christ’s Second Coming
We believe in a literal, physical, and visible return of Jesus Christ to the earth where He will establish His Kingdom. We believe in the resurrection of the body, the final judgment, and the eternal blessing of the righteous. Only those who have made Jesus Christ their Lord and Savior, will spend eternity with Christ.
On the Purpose of Faith
We believe true faith is born in a believer’s heart (or spirit). God requires us to exercise faith for our salvation as well as for all other issues in His Kingdom. In exercising our faith, we lift our focus above the temporal, terrestrial realm to the eternal, celestial realm.
Our Additional Beliefs
On the Baptism in the Holy Spirit
We believe the Baptism of the Holy Spirit is an additional impartation that empowers, strengthens, and comforts believers. It is usually accompanied by manifestations of the Holy Spirit (or spiritual gifts) in the believer's life. These gifts are available to all who believe.
On Dream Interpretation
We believe God has always spoken to people through dreams all throughout history, and he still desires to communicte to us today in our dreams. We also beleive that dream interpretaion can be use to open the hearts on non-Christians to what God is saying to them. We have a team whose members are trained in Biblical dream interpretation. Through the guidance of the Holy Spirit they are available to train you to help you understand what God is saying through your dreams.
On Revelatory Ministry
We adhere to Paul's words in 1 Corinthians 14:3,"One who prophesies is helping others grow in the Lord, encouraging and comforting them." Our prophetic team is trained to recognize divine impressions and promptings: receive insight from God to encourage, strengthen, and comfort you and help you fulfill your God-ordained destiny. Every team member also attends monthly training sessions and operates under the Boston North Shore Bridge spiritual covering.
On Healing
We believe God desires to heal us emotionally and physically. We believe that healing was paid for by Jesus' death and we can access it by His grace. Prayer teams pray for people during and at the end of the Sunday service.
